Answering your questions

I put out a call on Instagram (@tmloganauthor) recently to ‘ask me anything’, inviting people to pitch in their questions on any subject. Thanks to everyone who sent in a question, it was lovely to see so many – I will try to answer some of them here.

Ruth asked: What made you choose to start writing? while Lauren asked What inspired you to become an author? So I thought I’d tackle both in one go.

I’ve loved stories from a young age and at school, English was the only thing I was any good at. I liked creative writing too, and had a vague dream as a teenager that one day there might be a book out there with my name on it. Writing led me into jobs in journalism, first on my local daily paper in Nottingham then to a national paper in London. And when I left journalism in my mid-30s I rediscovered the joy of fiction – and crime/thriller fiction in particular – inspired by authors like Harlan Coben and Michael Connelly. That was the point when I decided to try to find time each day to write a few hundred words, in the hope that one day I would have a finished book. Fast forward ten years (and one still-unpublished novel) and I was offered my first book deal with Bonnier Books! I’ve been with them ever since.

Clarabella asked: If one of your novels could be turned into a TV drama which one would you choose and why?

I’ve already been lucky enough to have a couple of books adapted for TV – The Holiday and The Catch. There are TV production companies looking at some of the others too, trying to bring them to the screen, so I have my fingers crossed! It would be amazing to have any of the other books adapted, but if I had to choose I’d probably say The Daughter – because it’s my most recent book and I still feel very close to it – or The Mother, because I think it’s one of the most propulsive, compelling stories I’ve written. But to be honest I’d be absolutely delighted to have any of the other novels adapted, it’s such an amazing feeling to see your book cross over from page to screen.

Chris asked: What is your favourite crime festival and which (new) festival would you really like to do?

It has to be the Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival in Harrogate! It’s such a brilliant celebration of crime fiction, I’ve been going since my first book came out in 2017 and I just love it. But there are so many other great festivals too, one of the best things about being an author is travelling all around the country, discovering new places and new festivals filled with book-lovers.

In terms of new festivals, I’m not sure… but I’d love to attend one of the big ones in the US/Canada in the future.

Susan asked: How long will it be until your next amazing book? I know it is fantastic before I have even read it.

It’s not long now – The Weekend will be published in the UK on 26th February 2026. You could even pre-order today…
