January can feel like a long month but this one seems to have gone by pretty fast! We were lucky enough to get away for a few days of winter sun in Madeira and since then I’ve been busy getting ready for the launch of my tenth book – The Weekend – and celebrating the launch of The Room in the Attic (aka The Dream Home) in the USA.
I jumped on a train to London for a meeting with my publisher, Zaffre Books, to hear about all the amazing plans they have for 2026. Publishing is a big collective effort and it’s always great to hear from all the different team members and how we will work together on books, events and promotion over the course of 2026.
Later that day, I headed over to Soho for the Nielsen Bestseller Awards, where my debut novel Lies was awarded a Gold award for 500,000 copies sold in the UK. Lies had won silver in 2019 (for 250,000 copies) and I remember thinking back then that it would probably be my one and only visit to these Awards – so being there again was an unexpected joy. My wife Sally and son Tom (left of this photo) were able to join me for the evening which made it extra special 😊
